Debbie Whitehill's Eulogy for Dad September 12, 2001
Whether on land, in a tank in Germany, driving a truck across the USA; going for pleasure trips on his motorcycle; in the water scuba diving or in the air flying in a full-sized plane, or just getting together with his friends at the flying club to fly remote-controlled planes, Archie seemed to be always on the go. Transportation has always been a big part of his life. This is just another trip for him. He’s gone ahead of us to map out the route, find all the potholes and be there to guide us when we all make the same trip. You’d think by being on the go all the time, he wouldn’t have had time to be close to a lot of people but just the opposite is true. He has touched many people during his time here with all of us and maybe made a different kind of impact on each and every one. Which ever way he touched your life: whether by being a helpful neighbor, assisting a fellow trucker or fellow flyer with a mechanical problem, or helping someone with a technical computer problem, he was always helping others and spreading his knowledge and kindness to all he came to know. If any of you have a little something you want to say about how Archie has touched your life, please feel free to stand and share it with us at this time. |
