Inauguration
Day Thoughts
Sat, Jan 20, 2001
Today marks a new beginning in
America, a change of command at the Presidential Level.
This is an important transition because it is viewed by many as a change of
political philosophies. Some feel that is a bad thing; I happen to relish the
idea. It is far past time for a change, four years past time to be exact.
What do we have to look forward to in the next four years? We hardly dare guess.
My hope is that Congress support most, if not all, of President Bush’s
programs. It is my fervent hope that Clinton, the male Clinton, disappear into
the realms of hell to recompense us for the hell he has put our country through
during his administration. It is my further hope that Mr. Bush worries not so
much about compromise as he worries about getting his programs passed. Mostly,
it is my most ardent hope that we, the people, take an active role in watching
our elected officials, communicating with our elected officials and demanding
that those we pay with our taxes maintain a focus on what is best for our
country.
What I am looking for in the next four years include, but are not limited to,
the following specific items:
· Less Federal Influence in Local Affairs
· Fewer Federal Programs
· Lower Taxes
· Complete Revamp of Social Security
· Emphasis on more Personal Responsibility
· New Justices of the Supreme Court who are Strict Constructionists
· Strengthening of Gun Rights
· Strengthening of Freedom of Speech Rights
· Strengthening of Tenth Amendment Implementation
· Diminishing of Political Correctness in Government
· Return to a Respect for the Office of the President of the United States
· A Decline of Federal Activity in Social Issues
· An End to Copious Executive Order Declarations
· A Concentration of our Leaders on Business at Hand
· More Emphasis on Pure Science Research
· A Renewed Emphasis on Business-Friendly Governing
Those are my wishes for the new Bush Administration. Will we get those
wishes granted? More importantly, will the new administration lead us well
into the new millennium, to health, to prosperity, to productivity?
