Although you can get burgers and steaks at Joe's Crab Shack, I couldn't tell you about how they are. We go to Joe's Crab Shack for seafood, and for that I can certainly vouch.
During a conference last week, a group of co-workers, spouses and my boss met at Joe's Crab Shack for dinner, to celebrate something, whatever it was. We're still discussing that at work. But Joe's Crab Shack was definitely a high point of the conference.
Joe's has a nautical decor, and located on the first deck of Norfolk's Waterside, you can either sit out on the deck in the fresh air, or, as we did, sit near a window and look out on the harbor. There is also a party room for groups or parties.
My chowder was very good, as was my
calamari appetizer. Everyone in the group who shared my appetizer agreed that it was very good. With
everyone sharing, I wished I'd gotten the sampler appetizer.
My main course, a broiled seafood
platter, generous, with shrimp, filet, stuffed shrimp, and scallops, was excellent.
The coconut shrimp dinner ordered by my TikiGoddess was also tasty, according to her comments.
The menu consisted of crab, crab legs, salmon, filet, crab cakes, chowders,
various types of fish, and, of course the steaks, beef and seafood steaks.
Party platters of veggies and meats and finger foods are also available, and let me tell you: Joe's Crab Shack is a fun place to take a group of friends or co-workers.
If there was one complaint by almost everyone in my party, it was that it was too cool inside, make that downright cold, but I imagine it was only because we have been having such crazy, mixed weather in Hampton Roads. The server turned the thermostat up but it didn't seem to help.
With a full bar, draft beer, beer by the liter and a nice selection of non-alcoholic beverages for the designated drivers, we all enjoyed the service and the food at Joe's Crab Shack. So if it's just you, a couple, a family, or a group of rowdy co-workers, Joe's Crab Shack is a great place to eat.
