Last weekend, my wife, a friend
and I went out to find a place for a good, hearty breakfast. We found it in
Bel-Aire Pancake House on E. Little Creek Road in Norfolk.
Judging from the filled tables this is a popular place to eat, yet we had no
wait for a table. Service was fast and efficient, as well as friendly.
My breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns, with a cup of decaf was
excellent. My eggs, over medium, were perfectly cooked and tasty.
My wife enjoyed her buckwheat pancakes, a hearty breakfast she had along with a
side order of bacon.
Our friend had an omelet that was generous in proportion, filled with all kinds
of goodies, and Bel-Aire gives you lots of choices, and is served with your
choice of pancakes or toast. He had toast.
Although the restaurant was busy, we were not rushed; we enjoyed our breakfasts
as weekend breakfasts are meant to be enjoyed, leisurely with lots of good
conversation.
Although we had breakfast, the menu included what sounded like some very fine
lunch items, including an extensive list of Bar-B-Q sandwiches and platters,
Carolina style, no less. There were also other sandwiches and dishes, including
spaghetti, country style steak, BLT sandwiches, soups, salads and many more
hearty-sounding meal choices.
So, be it breakfast or lunch, head over to Bel-Aire restaurant and you're
certain to enjoy that rare combination of great service, friendly staff and
excellent food.
